By this time tomorrow, a good portion of the internet's DNS servers will be well aware of Accipiter.org's new IP address. As you may have guessed, :81 is no longer necessary on the tail end of the URL. That's because I'm no longer using AT&T for my internet connection. Of course, AT&T was responsible for the horrendus port 80 downtime on their customer network because their users don't know how to secure their systems. Thus, Accipiter.org was inaccessible to most people who attempted to check it out.
Those days are over, however. I have switched to DirecTV DSL for my connection, and they happily let you run any server you please. They provide a static IP address, they don't block inbound ports, and they don't care what you run just as long as you support it yourself. That's perfect. Thank you, DirecTV DSL!
In any case, Accipiter.org will be returning to normal operation once again. It will take a few days for every DNS server to be updated, but everything will be happy by Monday. I apologize for AT&T's stupidity, and the resulting downtime of my website. For those of you unaware of the port 80 fix, I will leave port 81 open for a week or two. Please adjust your bookmarks accordingly.
