It seems I can't go to the BP to get my nightly beverage, because it is raining and thundering pretty badly right now. It'll die down, sure, but I'm thirsty right now. I'm also wondering if the power will go out, and subsequently, what kind of backup power my office has. I've never been here at work when the power was out.
I'll say this, however... if the power *does* go out while I'm here at work, and we have no sort of backup for the workstations, I won't be able to do anything. There will be no power for the phones (as they're probably running off a PBX), no power for the support stations, and nothing available for lights (save the mandatory emergency lighting that I'm not sure we have).
So I'll be sitting in the dark, drooling, staring at the blackness where my monitor used to be.
