By the time you read this, Accipiter.org will be back online and, well, you'll be reading this. I've been offline for one day shy of a week, so I should explain what happened.

On December 16th, I'd placed my order with Speakeasy for their DSL service, as DirecTV DSL is going under in about four days. Tuesday morning of last week, my internet connectivity to DirecTV DSL died. That was the last time my network saw internet connectivity until the time this goes back online, which should be Monday the 13th. According to Speakeasy, Covad (the company for which Speakeasy is a reseller) did not receive any sort of installation dates from Bellsouth (the company who owns the offices in which the DSL is hooked up). Thus, they could not continue with their order, nor could Speakeasy. The order sat in this state from around the 25th of December through Thursday, January 9th.

Finally I decided to call Covad myself and find out what the hell was going on. I gave them my information, and the technician told me that apparently, my connection was ready to go due to the fact that he could see my Telocity DSL modem syncing up with the system. It turns out that Bellsouth actually did the work they needed to do, they just didn't tell anyone about it. I called Speakeasy back and told them what was going on, and they made it a point to ship out my new DSL modem pronto. It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow, which is (hopefully) when Accipiter.org will have went back online.

In any case, Speakeasy has been incredibly helpful throughout the process, and if the service is as good as their support, I'll have no trouble recommending them to anyone else.
