I walked to my mailbox this morning, and found a few cool items inside. The largest item was on top, and contained my Slackware 9 4-disc CD set which I was happy to get. Whee! Thanks, Patrick.
I also spotted an off-white envelope that seemed about the size of a greeting card, and was fairly thick. My birthday isn't until next month, so I wasn't too sure what this was. There was no return address on the front, but there was on the back. It was from Jacqueline, my friend Ed's fiance. My sharp intellect deduced that, because of the elegant font used on the envelope, this must be either a death threat or a wedding invitation.
Once I skimmed everything over to ensure the lack of such phrases as "I'll cut you, bitch" or "I'm going to kill you", I went ahead and read everything in detail. Sure enough, Ed and Jacqueline are getting married. Hooray! I promptly copied all of the relevant information (date and time, directions to the church and resort, a reminder to wear pants, etc.) into my Palm Pilot, and filled out the RSVP.
A wedding! How exciting! The last wedding I attended was when my sister got married, and I was all of about 5 years old. I remember I was looking pretty studly in that silver suit I was sporting. Damn I'm smooth.
Congratulations Ed and Jacqueline!
