So my first week at my new job is coming to a close, and all is going really well so far. I brought in some personal touches to my cubicle (ThinkGeek's original mini-fridge that I bought while I was still at Globix, my iPod, my CHIMP mirror, Tabasco, and plenty of tea bags), got my phone list posted, as well as my name plate. It's starting to look like "home."
I have a slick little dual-monitor setup at work, which is really nice. Unfortunately, I'm stuck using Windows 2000 for the interim. One of the things I quickly remedied was the horrible keyboard with which I started. It was a nasty, cheap little thing. Very low quality, and keys in the wrong places. They took the block of keys with Insert, Home, Delete, End, etc. and moved them down just above the arrow keys, and put "Sleep", "Power", and "Alarm" keys where "Print Screen", "Scroll Lock" and "Pause" are supposed to be. Offsettng where the cursor-edit and positioning keys are is a BAD BAD IDEA, so I ditched that junk and bought myself a classic IBM Model M for work. 15 years old, very heavy, and CLICKY KEYS. It's wonderful.
On an unrelated subject, I highly recommend the iPod. I love mine.
