I've been dabbling with some more code changes on Accipiter.org's back-end recently, and have made some improvements. I've streamlined the code that generates the main page reducing the number of queries to the database, so the main index loads much faster. In addition, I've reduced the access control lists speeding it up even more. Also during the server's downtime last month I took the opportunity to add more RAM.

I've also been working on a search engine for the personal gallery this past week, and it's finally live. You can check that out over here. Why did I build this? Boredom is likely the primary culprit, but hey. It's somewhat useful I guess.

And to top things off, we've got a new header image.

In addition to all of that, as of today only registered users can add comments to archived posts.

Oh, and I've finally gotten around to redoing the navigation for individual entries. It more closely matches the photo browser, and finally does away with the classic Accipiter.org <-- / --> navigation system.

What are those ACLs for? Do you have some enemies we should know about? Just give me a name and an address / ip address and we'll take care of them...

Seriously though, can you send me a template of what you used on Batesman? If not, can you tell me where I can find a tutorial or something similar to it? I really liked that design, but have no idea how to make something similar.
