So I made it to Cairo in one piece.

I will never understand the stupidity of some people. On the flight, I watched a man struggle to get his laptop bag into one of the overhead bins. When he realized it was not going to fit, he ended his effort. Entirely. He literally stopped, went back to his seat and sat down, leaving his bag hanging out of the bin expecting someone else to somehow magically make it fit even though it wasn't physically possible. So of course, a flight attendant eventually came by, took out the bag asking "Whose bag is this?", and then relocating it to another bin.

It doesn't end there. A different person, when asked "Chicken or Pasta", answered "Fish." He then talked to the similarly-aged man next to him for the remainder of the flight. Loudly. Including boisterous laughter. While everyone else was trying to get what little sleep you can in the economy cabin of a Delta 767.

In any case, the flight was long but otherwise uneventful. I didn't realize how far my hotel actually is from downtown Cairo. It's a bit of a haul; about an hour from the airport. It was pretty rad getting some hazy glimpses of the Pyramids on the way, though. My hotel is actually pretty close to Giza, so that works well for getting an early start on those.

My internal clock seems to have adjusted for the time difference (+6 hours) rather nicely, though I won't know for certain until it gets a bit later in the day. Right now I'm getting settled into my hotel room, ordered a bit from the dine-in menu (Shourbat Adas and Chicken & Lamb Satays), and generally prepping for the week as well as my Nile cruise this evening.

I hope I make it. I might need to find some kind of Pharaoh-rific energy drink or something.
