It seems my cable internet outage will be longer than expected.

I called my current ISP this morning to see about making an appointment to transfer my service to my new address. The person on the line didn't ask me for a date, only an address. I asked him why they didn't need a date, and he said "We service the entire Smyrna area. You only need to take your cable modem with you."

"Are you sure you service the address I gave you?"

"Yes. As I said, we service all of Smyrna."

I was then told I needed to call the cable company to transfer the actual cable line. Wonderful.

So I call the main cable company and inform them I will be moving, and I'd like to transfer my service along with me. I give the representative my name, current address, as well as my new address.

"I'm sorry, sir. We don't service that address."

That's funny. The last person I spoke with insisted that all of Smyrna was covered. Their website says my new zip code is available for service. My address was confirmed, yet now I'm getting conflicting facts.

Gee. What a tight operation you guys run.

Now I'm forced to sign up with AT&T Broadband, and cancel service with my current provider. Problem is, it takes about two weeks for AT&T to get off their ass and schedule an appointment. So now, I'm forced to wait on account of their convenience.

Whatever happened to customer service?
