I've been playing with Perl lately, and wrote a few toys as experiments. Obviously, Phaser was written in Perl, but that was a relatively simple project. My recent tinkerings have proven to be a bit more advanced.
My latest experiment involved writing a guestbook application for a friend. I could have just as easily downloaded a canned guestbook and installed it, but that wouldn't have been any fun - so I decided to write my own. It's not customizable except as to what is hard-coded into the script, and it's a very simple application - but it works. I learned a hell of a lot writing it, too. Enough to write a simple text editor that runs inside a web browser.
If you want to check out the guestbook, feel free. It's here. Source code is available if you want it, but trust me, this is a hack. There are better solutions out there.
On another subject, I saw Tomb Raider this weekend. My review (as always) is in the Entertainment Inventory.
