I don't know if the new year is a signal for squirrels to act like complete morons and/or commit suicide, but this makes two years in a row.
Sure enough, today at around 1500, a squirrel decided, for whatever reason, that one of the transformers in the complex looked somewhat inviting. The invitation didn't last long, however, as the squirrel was apparently toasted pretty quickly. The side effect was a loss of power in at least two of the buildings on-site, one of which contains my domicile.
I don't know how long the outage lasted, however I do know the Accipiter.org network remained online for the duration. I suppose I could dig out the timestamps on the UPS notifications from syslog on the boxes that remained powered, but I'm just not that interested.
