January 1, 2004
Ah, back again. 2003 has come to a close, and 2004 is here. 2004 has started me off with a sinus infection, a few new toys, and no more debt. That's right. When payment posts monday, I will no longer owe anyone any money. Hooray!
Anyway, in the spirit of Channel One, it's time for me to conduct my very own year-end wrap-up.
Accipiter.org's Year-in-review:
- One year ago tomorrow, an explosion rocked my apartment complex, causing the power to go out. Well, it didn't really rock the complex, but it was a pretty loud bang.
- Me threatening SCO in response to SCO threatening Linux. It has just gotten more bizarre ever since.
- My great uncle kicked it back in March. Cool guy, too.
- Attending not one, but two whole weddings.
- Redesigning Distributed.net, making a happy and high-profile push for web standards.
- I purchased both my first Apple computer as well as my first Silicon Graphics computer. Who would've thought? On either count?
- After a year and a quarter, I left StayOnline on my own accord, and joined the team at SecureWorks. The train is back on the proper track.
- Lysol snubbed me on my great idea. I'm telling you, it would make a fortune.
- Everyone snubbed me on another great idea. Destined for an even BIGGER fortune.
- My first ever whitewater rafting trip, and first social outing with friends/co-workers from SecureWorks.
- Kill Bill.
- An interesting trip to Oakland Cemetery also ended up to be my first ever exploratory trip to a cemetery.
- My first firearm, and its subsequent first defensive use. I didn't have to shoot anyone, though.
- My friend Kim kicked it in December. Another cool person robbed of existence.
- 2003 also happened to be the first year I didn't make it home for Christmas since I moved to Atlanta.
And here we are. 2004 hasn't yet started off with a bang. More like a dull thud. Who knows? Maybe we'll get another bang like the beginning of last year, in the form of a power-cutting explosion.
There's one thing that still bugs me, though. Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? Seriously. She's pretty hot. I figure maybe we could go out or something.
Happy New Year, folks.
