First of all, Happy Halloween. As evidenced by the color scheme that made its
appearence yesterday and today, the website also knows what day it is. Be safe,
have fun, and don't do anything (too) stupid. If you do, tell me about it. Also,
what's with these kids doing their trick-or-treating yesterday? Sorry,
but if you come to my door on the day before halloween, you're not getting shit.
I was talking with my aunt this morning, and I'd mentioned how I don't really
like Wal-Mart. Their don't-give-a-fuck attitude about where they put their
stores, predatory pricing, and their internal censorship policies really piss me
off. Wal-Mart shows no signs of abandoning this trend, since they're now refusing
to stock George Carlin's new book When Will Jesus Bring The Pork
Chops. As a fan of Carlin's earlier book Brain Droppings which I
bought a few years back, I expect good things from the new book as well. Fuck
Wal-Mart.

Update: I forgot to mention, Accipiter.org radio has been reincarnated in
the form of a weekly radio show I do on GBS-FM called "Stuck in Detention." (A dedicated
page is forthcoming. Eventually.) It's a huge mix-up of rock and pop from the
80s, 90s, and today, sprinkled with instrumentals and electronic music. Stuff
from other genres and periods may also randomly appear. Catch it Sundays at 1pm
Eastern.

A reminder that Atlanta's still in the Bible Belt. I remember when I still lived in Columbia, SC and Halloween fell on a Sunday one year, there were kids going around trick-or-treating on the Saturday; they said they'd heard that the police would arrest anyone trick-or-treating on Sunday. Silly rumors. (It wouldn't surprise me if there were kids out on Saturday here in Tampa, but we haven't gotten any at all in the 7 years we've lived in this apartment; guess there aren't any little kids here next to the USF campus.)

I don't remember any weird scheduling with a Sunday Halloween when I lived down there, but either way it's stupid. Similarly, there's actually a school district in Washington state that banned Halloween activities due to the possibility that it might be offensive to "real" witches.
I haven't gotten many trick-or-treaters tonight, but I'm not happy about the amount of firecrackers that have been going off around here.

I wager Wal-Mart won't carry George Carlin's puerile little book because he's such an arrogant self-congratulatory prick and they don't want to help him make money.
Did you hear his interview on NPR? "lol I'm the smartiest man evar and i droped out but cuz im so smart i got rich anyhow and i think that we are all matter from stars so everything is me lol see what i did their btw buy my book it has new stuff and i'm not still milking my seven ditry words bit from teh seveties. honest. :("
