After trying to find a spot on my laptop to place my Slackware emblem, I decided
to stick it on the back-right corner, on the outside of the screen. (Putting it
inside, with the rest of the stickers, gave the screen latch a hard time when
trying to close.)
I'm still not quite sure I like it where it is, because I always get the feeling
that it's going to be chipped off. I'm sure I'll eventually move it.
In other news, I sent an e-mail to Blizzard this morning. Blizzard makes video
games like StarCraft, WarCraft, etc. (I personally own Blackthorne, one of their
older titles.) Unfortunately, the reason for my e-mail was not a positive one.
It seems that Blizzard has forced the shutdown of the bnetd project, citing violations of the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act. (Go here
to find out why the DMCA sucks so much ass.) Aside from the fact that the DMCA
takes away rights granted by the Fair Use doctrine (defined in 17 USC 107),
Blizzard is killing a project that people use in conjunction with their
games.
However, since Blizzard wants to be the heavy-handed bully in this matter, I no
longer have a desire to give them any of my money. I encourage all of you out
there not to purchase games made by Blizzard, and if you want to take it
a step further, don't purchase anything from any name under Vivendi Universal.
My e-mail to Blizzard can be found here.

Hello visitors! On the off-chance you've found this page via PhotoStealers, you're no doubt as confused as I am as to why this link appeared in a discussion about stolen photos. The sole association between the two appears to be the fact that I am allegedly someone that "hates IP rights" based on my really old commentary about the DMCA.
Protip: it is very much possible to be pro-copyright and anti-DMCA at the same time. The fact is, the DMCA is an over-reaching piece of legislation that allows scare-tactics and bullying from IP owners to anyone it deems to be infringing - even if no infringement is actually taking place, such as in the case of the bnetd project I talk about in the post above. (For those wondering, bnetd was a program developed by reverse engineering Blizzard's Battle.net protocols, allowing gamers to run local game servers as opposed to connecting to Battle.net for multiplayer.)
Why did someone decide to cite a 12 year-old, completely unrelated post of mine to try and make the argument that I hate intellectual property rights as part of a completely unrelated discussion about a photographer that stole photos? Hell if I know. But Internet is Internet and people tend to grasp at straws when making arguments, especially when they have nothing else to latch on to. It's sad.
