I've noticed an interesting pattern lately regarding my sleep patterns. I've found that I wake up often during the night, and have a pressing need to look at the clock to see how much sleep time I have left until I have to get up for work. When the answer satisfies me (i.e.: a few hours), I happily go back to sleep. When I'm not happy with the answer (10 more minutes!), I go back to sleep and try to get the most sleep out of the time that I have left.

This, as you may imagine, ends up being the catalyst for some interesting hallucinations, since I'm half-asleep at the time. This morning, my pillow was apparently a plate of food. I didn't want to face-plant in the food, so I was fighting with myself not to lay back down. I guess I woke up enough to realize that it was, in fact, a pillow on my bed and decidedly not a plate of food, and I went back to sleep.

Yeah, except for the hallucinations I get
the waking-up-and-checking-the-time
thing too. As long as you don't chew the
pillow while eating in dreams, a la Homer
Simpson. 8)
