Canon still has my digital camera.
A few weeks ago while taking photos to document the preparation of my Pollo Alla Cacciatora recipe, my trusty PowerShot A70 was giving me a real hard time. A good percentage of the times I tried taking a picture, camera's view of the scene was entirely scrambled, causing the resulting photo to be nothing but a series of horizontal lines. It was not a problem with the LCD, but with the image sensor itself. I pegged that as the problem since I could view previously taken photos with no problems, and the text in the menu systems displayed just fine. Now I had experienced this problem before, but it usually fixed itself in a few seconds and didn't resurface again for a while so I never really worried about it. Over time it did get more common, but never to the point that it had on this day.
Suffice to say, I was rather annoyed. Considering I had just purchased myself a sleek new laptop, I was not happy at the thought that I now had to buy a new digital camera as well. For shits and giggles I decided to hit Google, and one simple search later I found a recall for this exact issue. I love my PowerShot, so it made me very happy that I could get it fixed. Thanks, Canon!
Of course, I started out this post by saying they still have it. They received it on the 17th and it hasn't shipped back out yet, and I'm going to Myrtle Beach, SC. next week. By no means am I complaining about Canon's service, it's just crappy timing is all. I've resigned myself to the fact that I will likely not be taking photos during my Myrtle Beach trip.
