It was a year ago this month that I finally arranged passage and accommodations for my long-awaited vacation to Japan. It was a great trip, and international travel has become a springtime staple for me. In continuing my annual vacation tradition, I have just this week completed and confirmed arrangements for a hotel and plane tickets for this year's trip.
Destination? Italy.
I will be arriving in Rome on the morning of April 12th, and I will be exploring the countrysides, coasts, and cities of southern Italy for a little less than two weeks before heading back to the states on the 23rd. Other than arriving in Japan with a simple list of things that I wanted to see, I made no effort to create and stick to a schedule. Schedules are for suckers, and it was the best decision I'd made for that trip. I'm definitely going to do the same thing this time around, although it may take a little more time allocation planning due to the distances between the things I intend to see. (An example is the fact that I'm going to be staying in Naples, which is about three hours from Rome by car.)
That brings up the fact that transportation is another unresolved issue, as I'm not entirely certain how I will be getting from A to B to C and back. Trains are the most likely solution, but a car rental may also be necessary here and there.
