The Jetta is dead. :(
I might have mentioned that the day before I left for Italy I got into an accident. The front end was banged up pretty good, but after I got back from my trip I spent the money to get it fixed and it was good as new.
So last week I was heading to Best Buy to pick up the newest Seinfeld DVD season, and as usually happens on roads all over the world, the car in front of me stopped. Naturally, the proper response for me would be for me to stop as well, so I did. You would think this would start a chain reaction of cars stopping, but alas, the car behind me had other ideas. Well that's not entirely true, because the car behind me DID stop - after smashing into the back of my car. This, in turn, forced my car forward subsequently smashing me into the car in front of me.
Everything that had just been fixed not three weeks prior was now banged up again, and on top of it the BACK of my car was also given a thorough bang-up. The initial estimate at the body shop was optimistic, but after they opened the trunk and got underneath, things looked a lot worse and it was deemed a total loss.
I'm going to miss that car. The Jetta beat out my first car (1985 Audi 4000s) as my favorite, so I'm sad to see it go.
